How to Bypass the “Welcome to” Android Phone Activation Screen

When you turn on an Android phone for the first time (or after resetting your device), you’ll be greeted with a “Welcome to <Your Phone Model>” screen which shows you how to activate your new phone.  If you’re checking out a phone in a store (or just don’t want to activate your device yet), this screen can be easily bypassed with a simple trick.

To skip the Android activation, you just have to tap near the four corners of the “Welcome to” screen in a clockwise motion, starting at the top left corner.  This is illustrated in the image and video below.

After tapping out the pattern, the Activation application will disappear and you’ll have full access to the phone’s operating system (but don’t be surprised if things don’t work – the phone isn’t activated, after all).

Once you’re ready to activate the phone, you can simply open up the Market application and sign in (or create) a Google Account.

I can’t speak for that phone in particular, but I believe this feature should work on any phone running Android.

Awesome!  To activate when you’re ready, you can also dial *228 and use option 1.
